Distinguished Faculty: Learn from the Best

Our faculty are giants in their disciplines: MacArthur Fellows, National Science Foundation grantees, industry pioneers, and award-winning researchers whose work shapes global conversations. Ranked among the most cited scholars worldwide, they bring frontline expertise to every seminar and lab. As a UC City graduate student, you won’t just learn from these trailblazers—you’ll collaborate with them, co-author research, and build mentorships that last a lifetime.

Interdisciplinary Research: Break Boundaries, Drive Innovation

At UC City, we believe the most impactful discoveries happen when disciplines collide. Our graduate scholars have long crossed academic borders to pursue solutions that defy
simple categorization—and we’ve built the infrastructure to support that work.

40+ research centers and institutes (e.g., the Global Urban Innovation Lab, Climate Resilience Institute, and Digital Ethics Center) foster cross-field collaboration.

Organized Research Units (ORUs) bridge traditional disciplinary gaps, bringing together experts from science, technology, humanities, and policy to tackle complex challenges like urban inequality and renewable energy adoption.

Collaboration here is organic—whether you’re brainstorming in a shared lab, co-leading a community project, or participating in interdisciplinary seminars that blend diverse perspectives.
