2025-2026 Undergraduate Cost Estimates

The following costs are estimated for first-time enrolled undergraduates in the 2025-2026 academic year. They are used to determine financial aid eligibility and cover tuition, fees, and average living expenses for the three-quarter academic period from mid-September to mid-June of the following year. Actual costs may vary based on personal spending habits, course load, and other factors. Official fee standards are available in the "Undergraduate Tuition and Fees Details" published by the Financial and Business Services Department.

In addition to the above cost items, non-California residents are required to pay an additional system-wide non-resident supplemental tuition of $37,602 per academic year (uniform across all housing types). Total costs for each housing type are as follows:
Important Notes on Tuition

Cost Certainty: Current tuition and fee figures are approved or proposed amounts and have not been fully finalized. The University of California ,City may make reasonable adjustments to tuition and fees based on actual needs or policy changes, and the final approved fee standards may differ from the estimated amounts.  

Instruction Format and Fees: Some or all courses during the academic year may be delivered remotely. Regardless of the instruction format, the determined tuition and fees are non-refundable.  

Tuition Stability Plan: The University of California,City implements a tuition stability policy. After enrollment, system-wide tuition and mandatory fees remain fixed for up to 6 years, providing cost predictability for students and their families. It should be noted that campus tuition, housing fees, health insurance premiums, and other expenses are not included in this stability plan and may be adjusted annually. Aid Philosophy and Mission
While our tuition is more affordable than that of other peer institutions, we provide diverse financial aid to the majority of students to alleviate their financial burden. The mission of the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office is to provide information and resource support to prospective and enrolled students, helping them achieve their educational goals. We adhere to the service philosophy of "timeliness, fairness, and compassion," and collaborate with various on-campus departments to fully respond to the needs of students, the community, the university, and regulatory authorities.

Key 2026-2027 Tuition and Aid Data

Tuition Standard: The 2026-2027 system-wide tuition for the University of California,City is $15,384, and eligible students can enjoy tuition stability protection for up to 6 years.  

Tuition Waiver Policy: California resident students with family incomes between 100,000 who meet financial aid eligibility requirements are eligible for full tuition waivers and do not need to pay any tuition.  

Average Aid Amount: Eligible California students received an average of $22,000 in grants and scholarships last year.  

Aid Coverage Rate: 54% of California undergraduate students receive tuition waivers; 67% of California undergraduate students receive grants or scholarships (no repayment required); 63% of California students graduate without student loan debt.

1. Blue and Gold Award

The Blue and Gold Award is our core commitment to the affordability and cost predictability of education for California students. California resident students with family incomes not exceeding $100,000 who meet financial aid eligibility requirements will receive sufficient funding to cover full tuition. This program effectively reduces the need for student loans, helping many students graduate "debt-free." Combined with the Tuition Stability Plan, it provides solid financial security for students and their families.  

2. Diverse Aid Forms

Our financial aid program ranks among the top among peer institutions. Regardless of students’ backgrounds, they can receive support through various forms, including non-repayable grants and scholarships, low-interest student loans, and on-campus work-study positions. Diverse aid forms ensure that students with different financial situations can obtain appropriate support, reducing the pressure of tuition payments and allowing students to focus on their studies.

Application Recommendation: Even if students believe they may not be eligible for aid, it is strongly recommended that they submit a financial aid application. Our aid programs are diverse, and some have flexible requirements regarding family income and academic performance. Submitting an application helps ensure that students receive all the aid they are entitled to.  

Aid Calculator: Students can use the "Campus Financial Aid Calculator" on the university’s official website to estimate the amount of aid they may be eligible for by entering basic information such as family income and household composition, providing a reference for academic cost planning.
